Adidas Micoach is a running tool that is beneficial to use to help set goals and push yourself to be the best you can. I started using this app in the spring of 2011 and use it every year once I can start running outside again. Below I will go over some of the features I find highly motivating.
WORKOUT OPTIONS
This app has several choices to choose from to start your workouts so you can tailor it to your fitness level as well as what you are feeling that day.
- Your Plan-
You can set up a plan that works for you and targets your specific goals by going onto their webpage ( https://micoach.adidas.com/ca/Plan/ ) and setting it up and then syncing your plan to the app on your phone. You can choose how many days a week and the level of runner you are so you don't burn yourself out. The cool feature it has with the start of your plan is an assessment workout to see where you are personally and how the app with train you according to your results. These plans push you through your workout by having a coach talk you through your workout and to push you when your slacking. If you get tired of one coach you can change the voice and person to a different one.
-Free Running/Free Walking-
This is a nice option for those days that you want to just go at your own pace without the coach pushing you. Great for in-between your workout or sometimes instead of your plan workout.
TRACKING & FEATURES
-Gps-
The gps tracking is great to see your routes or to share with others. I find the Gps maps after my workouts make me feel accomplished to see how far I really went with my runs. On occasion the gps tracking takes a bit to find a signal depending on the weather and clouds but overall it works well. There are probably only 1-2 of my runs I did without because it took too long to get the gps working.
-Calories Burned-
I love this feature!!! The app uses your weight/height/sex/&age to assess how many calories you burned during your workout. Great feature to push your self or set goals for how many calories you want to burn or to beat your last score. Also great if your using apps like "My Fitness Pal" so you can enter accurate calories burned into the workout section.
-Distance & Pace-
This feature is great to track how far you ran as well as tracks how fast you run each km/mile. Great for if your training for a race and want to make sure your getting in the distance you need. The pace per km/mile feature is great to push yourself to improve your running times and fitness levels.
-Heart Rate/Steps-
You can track your heart rate through your workouts as well as how many steps you made. I haven't used these features as I do not have a step counter that syncs with the app nor a heart rate monitor that is blue-tooth.
-Shoes, Achievements & History-
You can add your shoes to the app when you buy them and the app will keep track of their wear and tear to help you decided when you should replace them. The achievements section of the app is great to show your overall progress from all of your workouts. They give you badges for your accomplishments to help motivate you. The app syncs to the micoach website after each workout which is nice because it keeps all your workouts for you. This way you can see your progress or how you did on a certain day. I can see all my workouts from 2011 to now. Love it
OVERALL
I highly recommend this app!!! It is free and packed full of fun, motivational features. It looks nice and simple to use.
